How to Save Money While on Vacation in Nassau

You may already be aware that a vacation in Nassau can potentially cost a little more than a vacation elsewhere, however, you probably already know you’re assured of a great quality service and a trip of a lifetime. So, once you’ve booked your Nassau vacation rentals and you’re almost ready to jet off, how can you make sure you save a bit of cash while you’re away? We’re going to show you how:

Pack your Suitcase Well

Many people avoid taking toiletries and cosmetics with them on vacation because they know they’ll be sold in a shop somewhere near their hotel or villa. However, if you fail to take these items with you when you go to Nassau, you will end up paying out more money than you really should. Therefore it is important that you take everything you need with you, even if it means your suitcase is a little heavier than you had hoped.

Spend a Few Days at the Beach

Spending a few days at the beach is one of the best ways to save a bit of cash. Lying on a beach lounger and soaking up the sun costs nothing, and it’s a great way to get your vacation off to a good start. You should be aware that there will be some bars and a few cafés or restaurants nearby that could charge you a little more than usual for the privilege of dining there, but if you can avoid them, or refrain from buying quite so much, you could save yourself a good bit of cash.

Cook your Own Meals

Although it can be really nice to eat out now and again it can become quite expensive. Why not save yourself even more money by purchasing food from one of the local supermarkets and cooking your meals in your accommodation? Most hotels and villas have a kitchen that’s good enough for you to do a spot of cooking in, so why not make the most of it? Get a few ingredients together, and cook yourself a tasty dish that is likely to be half the price of a meal in a restaurant.

Cooking for yourself also gives you the chance to taste more local dishes, and season them your own way. Save some cash, get your bake on, and tuck into some tasty meals.

Take a Picnic on a Day Out

So you’ve decided to explore Nassau, and you’ve realised that there’s a lot on offer in this part of the world. You may also have realised that those activities you want to take part in, and those destinations you want to visit tend to be a little pricey. Fear not! You can keep your costs down if you take a picnic with you. Although you may want to eat out at every available opportunity, your budget may dictate that you don’t. Get around this by putting a picnic together, adding a few treats in there, and limit your spending. If you feel the need to splash out, grab yourself an ice cream for dessert, and feel better for knowing you’ve saved money, and treated yourself.

If you Must Drink, Drink the Local Rum!

Nassau is well-known for its rum, and it’s easy to see why. The rum produced in this part of the world tastes amazing, and a little fresher too. If you must drink while you’re on vacation, try to opt for some rum as it tends to be a lot cheaper than other alcoholic drinks. This is because a heavy price is usually put on alcohol that is not produced in the area, so try to avoid it if you can, and guzzle some rum instead!

If you Must Eat Out, Look for Bargains

If you must eat out, simply because you love to, or you feel like treating yourself after eating at ‘Home’ for a few nights, there is still the chance to save yourself a bit of money. Many restaurants and cafés have cheaper items on their menus, allowing you to spend a little less whilst enjoying a meal somewhere new.

An even better way to save money is to only order food that is produced locally, such as seafood and conch. However, if you’re not a lover of seafood, look for other local dishes that cost a little less than some.

Look Out for Cheap Activities

Nassau isn’t just home to some incredibly beautiful beaches, delicious foods, and friendly people, it’s also home to some cheap activities, if you know where to find them. You may want to spend a few days at the beach, but there will come a time when you simply want to head off and go explore the area. A few cheap activities include the Pirates of Nassau Museum, which is well worth visiting, even if you’re not a fan of pirates. Another relatively cheap activity involves visiting John Watling’s Distillery, where you get to enjoy a tour and sample a bit of rum.

Of course, you may also want to lounge around by the pool, occasionally jumping in and cooling yourself off as the sun blazes down on you.

There are so many ways for you to save yourself a bit of cash while you’re on vacation in Nassau. What’s more is you can have a whole lot of fun too, without leaving a huge dent in your bank balance.
